The Pez Espada is an emblematic hotel located in Torremolinos (Málaga) which, since it was opened in 1959, has been a forerunner of the so-called Relax Architecture in the region. It was also the meeting place chosen by numerous celebrities from all over the world during the golden age of the twentieth century. In 2020, Azora European Hotel & Lodging, the owner of the property, and its management company, the Med Playa Group, decided to refurbish and reposition the hotel, entrusting Ilmiodesign with the design of the common areas.
With this intervention, the studio remodelled the common spaces of the hotel with the aim of returning it to its original splendour with a sophisticated and current style. It created a differentiation between the various areas of the hotel, offering spaces that go in crescendo from a fresher and more relaxed style for the outdoor areas to a pronounced drama and theatricality present in the hotel lobby.
